Refund Policy

This Refund Policy explains how refunds, cancellations, and billing disputes are handled for NotarAI subscriptions. NotarAI is operated by Arthur Temmerman (VAT BE1031912625), Belgium. As a B2B service, statutory consumer cooling-off rights under EU Directive 2011/83/EU do not apply. However, we act in good faith and handle billing issues fairly.
1. Free trial — no charge
All paid plans include a 14-day free trial. No payment is taken during the trial period. If you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will not be activated and you will not be charged. Trial eligibility is one trial per account.
2. Monthly subscriptions — no automatic refunds
NotarAI subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. You may cancel at any time from your account billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to the Service until then. Cancellation does not trigger a refund of the already-billed current period, except where required by applicable law.
Plan downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. Unused quota does not roll over to the next period.
3. Enterprise seat add-ons
Additional seats on the Enterprise plan are billed monthly based on the active seat count at billing time. Removing seats affects future billing cycles and does not retroactively refund the current period.
4. Exceptional refunds
We consider refund requests in the following circumstances on a case-by-case basis:
- Billing error— you were charged incorrectly (e.g. charged twice, charged after cancellation). Contact us within 30 days with your Stripe invoice ID.
- Service unavailability — the Service was materially unavailable for an extended period in a given billing cycle, not caused by a scheduled maintenance or force majeure event. We may issue a pro-rata credit at our discretion.
- Trial charge — if you were charged before your trial ended due to a technical error on our side, we will refund the charge in full.
To request a refund, email contact@notarai.io with your account email and Stripe invoice ID. We will respond within 5 business days.
5. Payment disputes and chargebacks
Please contact us before initiating a card dispute (chargeback) with your bank or card issuer. Most billing issues can be resolved quickly. Chargebacks incur fees for both parties and may result in immediate account suspension while the dispute is reviewed. If a chargeback is filed for a charge that was valid under these Terms, we reserve the right to dispute it and recover associated costs.
6. How refunds are issued
Approved refunds are processed via Stripe back to the original payment method. Processing time is typically 5–10 business days depending on your card issuer or bank. We do not issue refunds by cash, bank transfer, or credit note unless Stripe cannot process the refund to the original payment method.
